Here at Leeds Mind we have launched a new specialist mental health Job Retention support service covering West Yorkshire which is delivered by our staff at WorkPlace Leeds.
The Leeds Mind Job Retention offer is a paid for service and is available to all employers who have employees who are struggling to manage their mental health and maintain their employment.
We can offer brief interventions and longer-term support depending on the needs of the employee. The employer can also benefit from support and we have worked with a range of public and private sector employers over many years.
We believe employment is an important part of mental health recovery and we support the aim that people can retain their employment, maintain a family and social life whilst contributing to their community and avoiding loneliness and isolation.
One of the biggest accounting organisations in the world, Deloitte, in collaboration with Mind has set out the monetary costs of poor mental health to UK employers of up to £45 billion each year. This is a rise of 16% since 2016 – an extra £6 billion a year.
The research also looks at how employers can tackle this problem, finding that it pays to support employees’ mental health. On average, for every £1 spent on supporting their people’s mental health, employers get £5 back on their investment in reduced presenteeism, absenteeism and staff turnover.
Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of Mind said, “Smart, forward-thinking employers are investing in staff well-being, and those who tend to do so save money in the long run”.
We have several packages available including: one off consultation; workplace assessment; short self-management interventions and two levels of ongoing support.
