Volunteering

Here at Leeds Mind we rely on the assistance of a great many volunteers to help us deliver our services and support our day-to-day work.

We are very proud of the work that our volunteers do.  We offer a variety of roles that you can get involved with, including:

  • IT Assistant
  • Counselling
  • Befriending
  • Group work facilitator with WorkPlace Leeds and Peer Support
  • Administrative roles

In return for your time and effort, we offer a supportive volunteering environment, valuable work experience, involvement in social activities, the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge, access to training, supervision and travel expenses.

We also look after the wellbeing of all our volunteers, offering them access to the same Mindful Employer Plus support that our staff have, and the opportunity to develop Wellness Action Plans.

Volunteer Befriender

The Leeds Mindful Befriending service works with people over 50 in and around Leeds, who may be struggling with mental health difficulties, loneliness and social isolation. 

Befrienders and befriendees are matched based on mutual interests, to create positive and successful partnerships. Support is provided either face to face, via phone or online, based on what the individual would prefer. Sessions are weekly on an agreed day and time and last for up to one hour for 6 months. 

 

Hours: Minimum commitment of 1 hour per week for 6 months

Board of Trustees - Co-Chair

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant difference to the mental health of communities across Leeds and West Yorkshire.  As Co-Chair of Leeds Mind, you will help ensure that the charity achieves its strategic priorities, delivers good quality mental health support and services, and is financially sustainable.
Leeds Mind delivers a range of support and services and has a key role to play in addressing these challenges.  With more people seeking and accessing support, our vision continues to be “Better mental health for all”. We need someone who is passionate about making a positive difference.  Somebody who has the energy and motivation to co-lead the Board of Trustees, support the Senior Leadership Team and work with all Leeds Mind’s stakeholders to make the impact needed.
